Forklift- Pre-Use Inspection

About this certification
This complete certification program is designed to equip operators with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to safely operate a Forklift. Blending self-paced online learning with an in-person, hands-on evaluation, this course ensures full compliance with current safety regulations and job site standards.
Program Structure:
Part 1: Online Theory Training Before attending the practical session, participants must complete the online module.
Key Topics: Applicable safety requirements, forklift components and controls, capacity and load charts, stability principles and centre of gravity, pedestrian safety, and safe operating procedures for Class IV and Class V forklifts.
Part 2: In-Person Pre-Use Inspection The practical evaluation begins with a thorough equipment check.
Key Skills: Conducting a systematic walk-around; inspecting forks, mast, chains, tires, and hydraulic components; checking fluid levels and fuel or propane systems as applicable; testing the horn, lights, brakes, steering, and operator restraint; and identifying defects before operation.
Part 3: Practical Operation & Evaluation Participants complete a hands-on assessment under the supervision of an instructor.
Key Skills: Safely entering and exiting the forklift, using the seat belt, maneuvering with and without a load, assessing load weight and stability, lifting and placing loads, traveling with loads at a safe height, navigating ramps and pedestrian areas, and parking and securing the forklift.
Prerequisites & Requirements:
Proof of completion for the Online Theory portion must be presented prior to beginning the practical evaluation.
Required PPE for Practical: CSA-approved safety boots, hard hat, and high-visibility clothing.
Valid government-issued photo ID.
